Referral program
Last updated: October 17, 2026
1. How it works
Every restaurant on a paid plan has a 6-character referral code under Settings → Referrals; ambassadors get theirs from the Ember team. A restaurant that wants Ember gives that code when it contacts us (contact form, WhatsApp or a conversation with the team) and, if it signs up for a paid plan, it is recorded as a referral of that code. Taking part in the program means accepting these terms, in addition to the Terms of Service.
2. When a referral counts
Only a restaurant that is new to Ember counts. The code must be given at the first contact, before signing up; a code added after signing up is not recorded. A restaurant that already talked to Ember in the previous 90 days (through the form, WhatsApp, Facebook, a Demo account or a meeting with the team), or that is or was a customer, does not count.
3. One referral, one code
Each referred restaurant is tied to a single code: the first one validly recorded, that is, the one in its first contact with Ember. If two people claim the same restaurant, that code counts and the reward is not split.
4. Restaurant-to-restaurant reward
When you refer a restaurant and it signs up for a paid plan, both of you get 1 free month of the plan you have at that time, applied to the next invoice. If your restaurant uses Ember Local, your reward is 1 extra month of license at the next renewal (13 months instead of 12). The reward is applied once the referred restaurant completes its second paid month; if it chose an annual plan or Ember Local, once 60 days have passed since its first payment.
5. Founder discount
The reward does not stack with the founder discount. If the referred restaurant has the founder discount, it keeps that discount and does not get the free month; whoever referred it still gets their reward.
6. What doesn’t count
The Free plan and Demo accounts don’t count; nor does referring yourself; another location, branch or brand of the same owner, their partners or close relatives, or with the same tax ID (RUC); a new branch of an organization already on Ember; or a restaurant created to get the reward that does not really operate. Each referrer has a cap of 10 rewarded referrals per calendar year: referrals beyond the cap are recorded, without a reward.
7. Ambassadors
An ambassador is an adult who is not an owner, partner or employee of the restaurant they refer, and does not work for Ember. They get their own code and a fixed commission for each restaurant that signs up for a paid plan; the amount per plan is agreed in writing with the team before starting. The commission is paid by bank transfer within 30 days after the referral meets the conditions in section 4. Ambassadors are responsible for their own taxes; Ember may apply the withholdings required by law and ask for the details needed to issue the receipt.
8. How Ember is recommended
Whoever recommends Ember gives truthful information. They may not promise prices, discounts, features or terms that Ember does not offer; present themselves as an Ember employee or representative; send unsolicited bulk messages; or buy ads on the word "Ember" or use its brand and logo without permission.
9. Form of the reward
Restaurant rewards are not paid in cash and cannot be transferred or sold. If your account has pending payments or is suspended when the reward is due, it is applied once you are up to date; if you cancel your plan before it is applied, the reward is lost. Ember does not issue refunds: if a payment of the referred restaurant is reversed or turns out to be invalid, the reward and the commission that depended on it are voided.
10. Verification and fraud
Ember may review each referral before applying a reward and ask for information to check that it meets these terms (for example, that the restaurant operates and who owns it). In case of false information, accounts created to get rewards, agreements to share rewards or any use against the purpose of the program, Ember may void the affected rewards, deduct the ones already applied and exclude the referrer from the program.
11. Changes and governing law
Ember may adjust or end the program by posting on this page. Referrals already recorded keep the terms in force when they were recorded. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Nicaragua, like the Terms of Service. For questions, write to us from the contact page.
